Share a clip: turn your best move into a video

Make a vertical video or image of a brilliant move or a big blunder, with the coach's caption, for TikTok, Reels, Shorts or X. Made in your browser, free.

Played something brilliant? Blundered spectacularly? Share it. Make a clip turns a key moment into a short video or image — made entirely in your browser, nothing uploaded.

What's in a clip

Your board and pieces from your side. The video plays the four moves before the moment, then the key move with a coloured badge (Brilliant, Great, Blunder…), an arrow — plus a green arrow to the better move for mistakes — an animated eval bar and the evaluation change. Player names, ratings, the ChessMess logo and your caption are added too.

The clip starts on your best Brilliant or Great move, or else the biggest swing in the game; you can pick any other moment. The caption is prefilled from the coach and you can edit it (up to 160 characters).

Saving and sharing

Press Make video (it records in real time, about 8 seconds) or save an image, then Download — or Share straight to an app on phones that support sharing files. Copy caption and link copies your caption plus a link back to ChessMess.

Browser notes

Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari save MP4 video; Firefox saves WebM. If your browser can't record video, you can still make the images. Keep the tab visible while recording.
