Worlds, boards and piece sets — make the board yours

Ten worlds restyle the whole site in one click — page, board, pieces, sounds and scenery — plus 24 boards, 14 piece sets and accessibility options.

ChessMess lets you change the whole look in one click, without ever interrupting a game.

Ten worlds

Ivory Court, Midnight, Walnut Library, Marble Hall, Frost, Forest Glade, Deep Ocean, Desert Dune, Neon Arcade and Sakura. Each world sets the page colours, the board, the pieces, the sounds and a gentle ambient effect (snow, leaves, petals…), and you can override any part.

Boards, pieces and sounds

Guests can use a selection of worlds, boards and pieces; a free account unlocks all of them.

Comfort and accessibility

Light and dark worlds; reduce motion; high-contrast board; coordinates inside, outside or off; drag, click or both to move; premoves; auto-queen; confirm moves; and adjustable animation speed. Everything is in Settings.
